Dear Francesco,

I would recommend you chant So Hum or the Medicine Buddha Mantra before you start the healing process for any of your patients/clients. The mantras will protect you, help focus the mind for the task at hand and have the right intention for healing. Hope this helps. Be Well.

Dear Swapna,

Ayurvedia can be very beneficial before and after Knee Replacement Surgery. If the condition is not severe - can try Physical Therapy and Ayurveda as a conservative therapy prior to the surgery. However if the decision has been made to perform the surgery, Ayurveda can be very beneficial to help with the post surgical process, especially in conjunction with Physical Therapy. Do you have resources or contact information for local Ayurvedic practitioners or physicians? Where are you located? Let me know if you have further questions.

Regards,

Manu

You're right. This is probably the first time it is being implemented in Ayurveda, and that too in India. Novel drug delivery is basically a unique drug delivery system that increases the efficacy of the drug by bypassing the metabolic process. We have developed a poly herbal mouth dissolving tablet called Res-Q for respiratory distress mainly asthma. It dissolves within 4 to 6 minutes of putting in the mouth and goes straight to the lungs where its herbal ingredients work on the choked airways to impart fast relief. if regularly taken, it can result in less congestion of the airways, resulting in effective asthma management.

The focus of the presentation was on core principles of Ayurveda and their application for determining individual constitutions and maintaining optimal health. The emphasis was not on Ayurvedic herbs. Herbs are important, however if the root cause of the problem is not removed and lifestyle/dietary modifications are not implemented - herbs will not be as effective.

I was unable to access your blog. What do you mean by a novel drug delivery system? Sounds like Western medicine concepts implemented for Ayurvedic herbs.

Does the lecture contain any mention of using a novel drug delivery system in Ayurvedic medicines and increasing the efficacy of the drugs? This technology is gaining prominence worldwide but is yet to find its takers in India. Back here, where the 'science of life' originated, purists are not so kicked up about the marriage of technology and tradition. Exceptions prove the rule :) please read our blog for details.

There are many such instances where Ayurveda is used for managing certain chronic diseases. Asoka Lifescience Limited has made a new drug for lung problems from herbal extracts and using a novel drug delivery system to impart greater efficacy. This is probably the first time a novel drug delivery has been adopted in traditional medicine.
